Gasunie is a leading company in the energy transition. Gasunie manages and maintains the infrastructure for the transport and storage of gases in the Netherlands and Northern Germany. They aim to play a pioneering role in the shift to sustainable energy.

The challenge

In addition to a pioneering role in the energy transition, Gasunie simultaneously strives to promote the well-being of their employees. With a growing team, increasing workload, and changing tasks, Gasunie faces the challenge of supporting their employees in this dynamic environment. They aim to support not only through knowledge and awareness but also by stimulating effective behavioral change.

“We want employees to take control themselves. People are so different. You can say: the workload in this department is too high, but not every employee experiences it the same way. We want employees to understand what works for them. What is healthy for me? How does my work fit into that? And how do I structure my days? The Onewave program makes vitality very concrete and applicable.” – Marieke Nienhuis, Health and Well-being Policy Advisor at Gasunie.

The solution

We began the collaboration with an initial workshop on energy management, which demonstrated that our methodology aligns well with the organization’s needs. This sparked interest in our data-driven program. Sixty team members participated in the startup phase, and the results were so positive that more and more employees wanted to join. This led to the next phase, involving 300 employees in team-based participation.

For Gasunie, it is important that the lessons on energy management are firmly embedded throughout the organization. Therefore, our Onewave program is implemented for various groups:

  • Annually, we organize in-depth workshops during the Health and Well-being month, which all employees can attend.
  • Additionally, the in-depth program is integrated into the onboarding process for new employees, providing them with tools to maintain their energy levels in their new jobs.
  • But the greatest impact is made within teams: we offer an in-depth program that not only contributes to individual well-being but also translates into the way of working. Individuals learn how to manage their energy effectively, both at work and at home. We help teams create a healthy work culture and support each other in maintaining healthy work habits.

This year, more than 20 Gasunie teams are actively participating in the Onewave program.

The result

Results

Our program provides Gasunie with many benefits! We see an increase in energy and productivity within teams, as people now have better insights into their energy usage and the importance of recovery time. Additionally, the program helps in building a way of working that improves both health and productivity!

The program receives an average rating of 8.2/10, and no less than 92% of participants report having gained tools to improve their energy levels. Furthermore, 97% say they would recommend the program to a friend or colleague. Feedback from teams is equally positive: all surveyed teams indicate that the program has indeed helped them integrate vitality into their way of working (together).
